In less than twenty years of operation, Jet Airways - India now has nearly 100 aircraft in their operational fleet. They fly some of the most advanced and sophisticated passenger airliners in the world. For example, among their fleet are ten Boeing 777-300 ER (Extended Range) aircraft. Over fifty of Boeing 737 next generation airliners, the 700/800/900 aircraft are also a part of their fleet. The Airbus A330-200 carriers that one sees everywhere are also operated by Jet Airways. Because the company is young, it could have chosen to buy older aircraft. But they did not, so the company has one of the youngest air carrier fleets in the whole world of the aviation community.
This company consists of two subordinate passenger carrier airlines: Jet Airways Konnect and JetLite. Jet Airways Konnect was formed to meet the demands of a very specific market in India. Konnect serves seven of India's major cities as well as a few major international cities too.
This particular subsidiary is marketed to meet the needs of lower budgeted fliers (and there are a lot). JetLite, bought by the company in early 2007, is somewhat similar in design to Konnect although it does offer slightly higher priced accommodations. Still, it isn't the same as flying first class. JetLite, in addition to serving 27 in-country destinations also sends flights to Kathmandu. When combined, the two subsidiaries of the company fly almost three hundred flights every day.
In April of 2007, Jet Airways bought Air Sahara, which you now know as JetLite, for around $340M USD.
